In times where our budget is limited, the perfect solution might just be in the pantry! Coconut oil is the ultimate holy grail for creating DIY moisturizing body care. Here are some easy DIY beauty recipes
The following DIY recipes are for:
Facial Moisturizer
Coconut Oil Lip Balm
Body Lotion
Hair treatment
Hair Mask
Eye Cream
Facial Moisturizer:
4 tbsp of coconut oil
2 lemons worth of juice
2 drops of vitamin E oil
How to DIY: Mix the coconut oil with a hand mixture until fluffy. Fold in lemon juice and vitamin oil until its evenly mixed.
Shelf life: 1 week (refrigerator)
Coconut Oil Lip Balm
2 tbsp of coconut oil
1 tbsp of beeswax pellets
How to DIY: Heat both the ingredients in a double boiler until fully melted. Mix it until ingredients are fully incorporated. Pour it into smaller containers or molds and put it the refrigerator until its fully solid.
Shelf life: 6 months.
Whipped Coconut Oil Lotion
1 cup of coconut oil
1 tsp of vitamin E oil
3 drops of essential oil of choice
How to DIY: Blend the ingredients together with an electrical hand mixture for 7 minutes or until it has a ‘whipped’ consistency. For storage, store it in an air type container. Shelf life: 3 months.
Hair Treatment:
1 cup of coconut Oil
2 drops of myrrh essential Oil
2 drops of peppermint essential oil
How to DIY: Melt the coconut oil, add the essential oil, and mix to fully combine.
To use, apply around 3 (can be less or more depending on hair length and thickness) tbsp of the hair treat to dry hair and comb through. Wrap hair in shower cap or towel and wait for an hour before using shampoo and conditioner.
Tip: For the morning shower people, apply it before going to bed. Then wake up and shower and shampoo/condition your hair as usual.
Coconut Oil Honey Hair Mask
2 tbsp of honey (may need more if hair is long)
2 tbsp of coconut oil (may need more if hair is long)
How to DIY: Our the honey into a bowl and pour the melted coconut oil in. Mix until fully incorporated.
To use, apply to dry hair immediately and wait for 40 to 50 minutes. Then shampoo and condition hair as usual.
Eye Cream
4 tbsp of coconut oil
4 drops of vitamin E
3 tbsp of reship oil
How to DIY: Melt the coconut oil, add vitamin E and rosehip oil to the melted coconut oil and mix until fully incorporated. Store it in an airtight container. Shelf life: 3 months. All these DIY Beauty Recipes are easy to recreate and are 100% natural and chemical free! For best results use, cold pressed and unrefined coconut oil.
