Cinnabao: Fried Lotus bun, cinnamon sugar with cream cheese filling.
Ingredients:
- Cream Cheese Icing
- Cinnamon
- Sugar
- Arroyo Kitchen Lotus Buns
Bun Preparations: Steam:
Use an electrical steam or traditional Steamer
Toss buns into steamer and leave in steamer for 5 to 10 minutes
Cooking Instructions:
Step 1: In a separate container or tray, mix cinnamon powder and sugar together.
Step 2: While steaming the buns, heat a very small pot of oil to fry the buns. 1/4 Cups to 1/2 Cups of oil should be suffice.
Step 3: eaving the buns close, fry each side from 10 ~ 20 seconds.
Step 4: While the buns are still piping hot, toss the buns into the cinnamon sugar mix to coat all sides.
Step 5: Allow it to cool for 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 6: Open up the bun and spread Cream cheese icing inside and enjoy!
How to make Cream Cheese Frosting:
Ingredients:
• 1/4 stick of unsalted butter
• 4 oz of cream cheese
• 1/8 tsp of salt
• 1/2 tsp of vanilla
• 1.5 to 2 cups of powdered sugar
Step 1: Combine butter and cream cheese and beat until creamy, well-combined and lump-free. Please use and electric mixer.
Step 2: Add vanilla extract and salt and stir well to combine.
Step 3: With mixer on low, gradually add powdered sugar until completely combined.
